We started the kitchen/laundry room on New Years day this year. We have come a long, very long, way. After months of looking at subfloor and living with 12 inches of counter space I now have a usable kitchen! We still have some things to finish, like backsplash and trim. Once it is 100% finished I will take more detailed pictures so you can see all of its beauty up close.
For now, enjoy seeing the major difference…
The right side of the kitchen. With the original double oven and cook top form the 1950’s.
Currently. A lot more open, bright, and fresh!
The left side of the kitchen. Those lovely lights above the sink and the broken faucet!
Currently. The window makes the biggest difference. It adds so much more light!
The kitchenette wall. Pretty plain. The previous owners had it setup as a den with a sofa and cable.
Now we have a floor to ceiling built-in hutch. My father-in-law built this, including the black walnut butcher-block countertop. It provides so much more storage and gives the room purpose. We did keep the 1950’s chandelier from the dinning room. I like to mix old and new together!
More pictures and details to come soon! We have two weekends left to get it all finished before all the holiday festivities kick off!
